Known as the “Breton Stripe” and originating from the French navy the stripe was brought to the fashion world by Coco Chanel, who was inspired by the sailors. It was made popular by the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Edie Sedgwick! The stripe is so adaptable and has been through countless transformations, resulting where we are today with the variegated print.

Stripes are a timeless trend so always on the catwalks. Dolce and Gabbana worked a bohemian vibe while Moschino wows us with mixing scalloped and straight stripes. Marc Jacobs showed off an elegant black and white stripe collection, incorporating variegated print like our own Mixed Stripe collection. The shape tapers to your body helping you work those angles!

Bloggers and celebs alike are getting their stripe on, including Coco Rocha looking cute in a matching suit and Miley Cyrus daring as always in an eye-catching maxi dress. Beyoncé has also been spotted rocking this irregular stripe trend. She teamed it with a bowler hat, round sunnies and a contrasting pair of red heels for a retro twist. Wear our Debbie Dress with the Quay Freya Sunglasses in Black to look like our favourite goddess!
